Lab Film Blowing Machine

Laboratory film blowing machine is a small mechanical device used in the laboratory to melt plastic polymers and then blow them into thin films to test the feasibility of film blowing and the colloid condition of the materials, as well as the dispersion of colored dispersions, control mixtures, and extrudates. During the blowing process, Plastic granular materials are fed into an extruder and heated to a certain temperature. As the screw rotates, a certain shear force is generated on the material, so that the plastic melt is continuously extruded through the die at the other end, and then inflated by compressed air, and then cooled and solidified. Finally, the formed film is wound into a roll.

The film blowing machine allows you to precisely control the conditions under which a polymer is transformed into a thin film. And It is specifically designed for research and development, quality control, and small-scale production of plastic films made from PE, PP, PVC, POF, etc.

At its heart, the system features a precisely controlled extruder. This component melts the polymer pellets or granules and pushes the molten material through a circular die. The die’s dimensions dictate the initial thickness and width of the film.

As the molten polymer emerges from the die, air is blown into the center of the resulting tube, inflating it like a balloon. This “bubble” is then drawn upwards by a pair of nip rollers, which also flatten the bubble into a double-layered film. The speed at which these rollers pull the film, along with the air pressure inside the bubble, determines the final thickness and width of the film. Precise temperature controls are critical throughout the process, ensuring consistent melting and preventing degradation of the polymer.

In order to enable the user to check on-site whether the blown film meets the quality standards, we have equipped the machine with a light box, which allows you to clearly observe the dispersion of the raw material, the glossiness and the uniformity of the finished product with the help of the light before the film is rolled up.

In addition to the commonly used single-layer film blowing machines, we can also provide multi-layer co-extrusion machines represented by three-layer co-extrusion film blowing machines. Co-extrusion is the simultaneous extrusion of multiple layers of materials.

This extrusion uses two or more extruders to melt and provide a stable volume throughput of different viscosities. The material is extruded through the die into the desired shape, and the layer thickness is controlled by the relative speed and size of the individual extruders.
