Filter Pressure Value (FPV) Test Machine is a device used to test the dispersion properties of polymers such as pigments and masterbatches. It is mainly composed of a single screw plasticizing unit, a melt pump, a filter screen, pressure sensors, a measurement and control unit, a display device, etc. During the test, the melt pressure before the filter screen when the pure material is extruded is first tested, and then the compound sample prepared in a specified proportion is put in for measurement. The measurement and control software records the change curve of the melt pressure before the filter screen, and analyzes and calculates the ratio of the pressure increase value to the colorant mass, that is, the FPV value. When the mixed material in a molten state passes through the filter screen of the barrel, the granular material will be gradually retained, and then the filter screen will be blocked, and an obvious pressure peak will appear. This pressure value can be used as an ideal indicator to describe the dispersion effect of the masterbatch. If the masterbatch has poor dispersion, there will be agglomerated particles during the processing process, which will cause the filter screen to be blocked when flowing through the filter screen, resulting in an increase in the melt pressure before the filter screen. The FPV value can characterize the dispersion effect of the masterbatch. The smaller the FPV value, the better the dispersion. FPV testing instruments are widely used in polymers such as PP, PE, and PET, especially in masterbatch production and quality control. Through FPV testing, the dispersion performance of the masterbatch can be evaluated to guide the optimization and improvement of the production process.

Working Principle
The test raw materials are first melted and homogenized by a single-screw extruder, and then transported to the die head equipped with a filter screen by a melt pump. The instrument measures and records the melt pressure change curve before the filter screen in real time through sensors and measurement systems, and automatically analyzes and calculates the filter pressure value to determine the dispersion performance of masterbatch or other filling materials.

Precision Single Screw and Barrel
- The material of the barrel and screw is 38CrMoAlA high-quality nitrided steel. The surface has been nitrided and the maximum depth reaches 0.7mm.
- The screw speed is adjusted through frequency conversion speed regulation, and the speed regulation range is from 0 to 95RPM.
- The barrel is composed of multiple sections, each section is 120mm long.

- The machine’s barrel is equipped with electrically heated cast aluminum heaters for 2 zones: 3 zones in the barrel area, and one zone each before and after the melt metering pump.
- Barrel cooling includes two methods: one zone uses water cooling, and the other zones use multi-blade fans to ensure normal machine operation.

Precision Melt Metering Pump
- To provide a stable, pulsation-free melt flow and ensure the accuracy and repeatability of test results, we use a melt metering pump from a well-known Taiwanese brand, driven by a TECO servo motor.
- The melt pump precisely delivers 3cc of melt per revolution, guaranteeing test accuracy. Its speed is adjustable, and the pump operates from room temperature to 300 degrees Celsius.

Pressure Sensors from a World-Renowned Brand
- The accuracy and reliability of the pressure sensor directly determine the accuracy of the test values. Therefore, we have equipped the machine with pressure sensors from Dynisco, USA, which support melt pressure measurement from 0 to 35 MPa.
- Two sets of pressure sensors are configured: one set is installed before the melt pump to monitor the melt supply pressure and ensure a constant flow rate; the other set is installed after the melt pump to collect the pressure before the filter in real time for FPV calculation.
