IPX1~IPX9-integrated water proof test chamber

Integrated IPX1 to IPX9K Water Ingress Test Chamber

This all-in-one IP waterproof test chamber is a versatile solution that combines IPX1/2 drip tests, IPX3/4/4K water spray tests, IPX5/6/6K strong water jetting tests, and IPX9K high-temperature, high-pressure water spray test in one unit. It accommodates different waterproofing standards for medical devices, consumer electronics, automotive parts, and other products, helping you reduce procurement costs and save valuable lab space.

The equipment is constructed with welded rectangular heavy-duty steel tubs and cold-rolled steel panels, and the chamber features a 304 stainless steel upper test chamber to house components for various test ratings. A square drip box with evenly spaced needles is mounted at the ceiling to simulate light rain for IPX1/IPX2 testing. In the center, a stainless steel turntable sits on a vertical rod anchored at the bottom of the chamber, holding your specimen. The turntable’s rotation speed and tilt angle are adjustable to fit your test needs.

In the middle area, a semi-circular oscillating tube with a defined number of nozzles, spaced at set intervals, enables IPX3/IPX4/IPX4K testing at 120 degrees or 360 degrees of oscillation. The tube ends attach to the left and right walls of the inner chamber. A swing arm in the inner corner carries four high-pressure IPX9/K nozzles at specified angles and spacings. These nozzles conform to relevant standards and can spray high-temperature water (80 ± 5 °C) at controlled pressures and intervals throughout the test. The IPX9 swing arm rotates horizontally and can be tucked against the wall when not in use.

Inside the innermost wall, a rectangular or circular opening connects to a 2.5 m water guide conduit. The two jet nozzles for IPX5, IPX6, and IPX6K are mounted on the opposite side of this conduit. The nozzles can be fixed or automatically swung up and down. During testing, a water jet is delivered through the guide conduit and directed at the rotating specimen for a defined period.

Customization options:

  • Chamber size can be tailored to your specimen dimensions.
  • Flexible configurations allow combinations of IPX ratings from IPX1 to IPX9 integrated into a single chamber per your test requirements.
  • The sample can be powered on and off as needed during the test.

AmadeTech’s IP integrated rain test chamber comes with a colorful touchscreen and a built-in PLC. You manage all test controls from this single screen, which saves space and makes operation easier. You can tap the icons to access different test ratings and enter the required parameters, then monitor and control the test status from the same interface.

For each test item, the required flow rate is set with adjustable electronic flow meters. Alternatively, the integrated test chamber can be equipped with manually adjustable meters if there is sufficient space. Every waterproof test rating is independently controlled and won’t affect the others. When you start the machine, it follows the standard procedure and stops automatically when the test is complete.

All data and progress are displayed in real time on the screen, so you can easily view and monitor the test as it runs, ensuring a smooth, steady process.

FAQs

A single comprehensive waterproof test chamber can support the following IP waterproof ratings: IPX1 and IPX2 rain tests, IPX3, IPX4, and IPX4K water splashing tests, IPX5, IPX6, and IPX6K water jetting tests, and IPX9/9K high-temperature and high-pressure spray tests. However, this does not mean you need to select all of these tests on a single device. We can provide flexible customization solutions. For example, if you do not need IPX1 and IPX2 testing, we can remove the corresponding hardware and configure the device only for IPX3 to IPX6 and IPX9. Or, if you do not need IPX9 testing, we can configure only the IPX1 to IPX6 testing devices. In short, you can perform any combination of different levels of waterproof testing in a single test chamber, and we can configure it accordingly to your requirements.

Except for the detachable water conduit, the combined test chamber is essentially a single unit. All the hardware and software required for different waterproof ratings are integrated into the device before it leaves the factory. Operators do not need to individually adjust or switch the corresponding devices before performing different IP waterproof rating tests.

The biggest challenge in integrating so many test items into a single, compact test chamber is ensuring their harmonious coexistence and non-interference during operation. Improper layout or incorrect component placement can cause collisions between mechanical parts, damaging the machine. While manual adjustment and positioning of moving components by operators before testing can prevent collisions, the probability of human error remains relatively high. To address this, we designed an automatic return program for the machine. When a test item is initiated, its mechanical components automatically rotate and move to create the necessary space. For example, after completing an IPX3 test and preparing for an IPX9 test, the IPX3 swing arm automatically rotates to the bottom of the test chamber, while the IPX9 swing arm automatically moves from the wall to the center of the chamber—all without manual intervention.

Before shipment, the factory will perform internal calibration on each device to meet the different waterproof ratings. If you require additional paid third-party calibration, that’s also fine. The device will be sent to a third-party laboratory or they will come to our site to perform the data calibration, ultimately issuing a calibration certificate and report.

The volume of our comprehensive waterproof test chamber depends on the internal dimensions. The standard internal dimensions are 1300 mm wide, 1300 mm deep, and 1300 mm high. This doesn’t mean you absolutely have to choose this size. Generally, the more tests the internal chamber integrates, the larger the chamber needs to be to accommodate and arrange these different hardware components. In addition, we also need to consider the size of your samples. Sample size and internal chamber size are positively correlated to ensure that the samples can be properly accommodated without affecting the testing. Of course, the sample dimensions cannot be infinitely large, as the internal chamber size also has limitations.

Yes, the acceptable sample weight for this test chamber is limited to 50kg, which is the turntable’s maximum load capacity. If you have specific requirements, please contact us separately.

The circulating water in the test chamber is electrically heated, providing rapid heating. The water temperature range is from room temperature to 100 degrees Celsius. The equipment uses a PID controller to achieve precise control and regulation of the water temperature, ensuring that the water temperature is maintained at the set value and meets the testing requirements of relevant standards.

The machine is equipped with a water tank and a circulation system, so continuous water replenishment is not required during testing. You only need to connect the water inlet to the water supply pipe to fill the tank before testing. During testing, the water pump pumps water from the tank to the corresponding outlets to act on the sample. The water inside the chamber collects at the bottom of the inner tank and is then recycled back into the main tank.

The test water needs to be changed periodically. Since there is no chemical contamination, the drainage water can be directly discharged into the sewer.

There are two main types of consumables for this machine: one is the filter cartridge to ensure clean incoming water. It needs to be replaced when it becomes dirty. The other is the nozzle needle for IPX1/IPX2/IPX3/IPX4/IPX4K testing. These need to be replaced promptly if they become clogged or bent.
