IEC 62133 Battery Drop Tester

Cell & Battery Free Fall Testing Machine China Manufacturer and Supplier

Battery Drop Tester allows the charged cell or battery samples to be freely dropped from a specified height onto a flat concrete or metal floor so as to obtain impacts in random orientations. After a period of time, the dropped samples are visually examined to determine their qualifications.

In order to prevent the surrounding people and objects from being hurt during the test, our drop tester adopts a fully enclosed chamber structure. And the housing is made of quality stainless steel.

A pneumatic gripper is arranged inside the chamber to hold a maximum of 3 kg mass. The distance between the jaws of the gripper is adjustable to accommodate specimens of different sizes and shapes, and the jaws can be automatically separated to release the clamped object when required. The gripper is allowed to be freely raised or lowered electrically under control. Its maximum lift height is up to 1500 mm.

Our free fall tester is easy to use, and all operations are done on a touch LCD screen with the support of the PLC module. All control keys integrated into one page of the screen allow you to set desired drop heights and conveniently give commands to the machine with the help of prompt text. The real-time height of the gripper is displayed on the screen.

What Are the Test Procedures for the IEC 62133 Free Fall Test?

  • 1  Charge the cells or batteries to a fully charged state according to the first procedure 7.1.1 of IEC 62133.

  • 2  Power up the drop test machine and mount the specimen in the pneumatic gripper.

  • 3  Set the target height with the aid of the touch screen to 1 meter.

  • 4  Tap the “Drop” key to release the specimen to achieve a free fall. (The ambient temperature is required to be at (20 ± 5)℃.)

  • 5  Repeat the test 3 times on each specimen.

  • 6  Visually inspect the specimen after resting it for a minimum of 1 hour.

  • 7  The specimen without fire and explosion is qualified.
