Footwear Electrical Resistance Tester is used to measure the electrical resistance of antistatic footwear under specified conditions.

The main apparatus is an instrument used to measure the electrical resistance to an accuracy sensitive to ± 2.5% while applying a voltage of (100 ± 2)V DC.

This shoe testing equipment features lots of stainless steel balls of 5 mm in diameter and a total of (4 + 0.1) kg in mass. The balls are connected to the testing instrument using a copper cable.

Test Principle

The electrical resistance of conductive footwear is measured after conditioning in a dry atmosphere. The electrical resistance of antistatic footwear is measured after conditioning in a dry atmosphere and afterwards conditioning in a wet atmosphere. If there are enough samples, the two conditiongs can be conducted in parallel.

Antistatic Footwear Electrical Resistance Test Procedure

  1. Fill the specimen with clean steel balls to a overall mass of 4 kg using a piece of insulating material to extend the height of the vamp If necessary.
  2. Put the filled specimen on the copper plate.
  3. Apply a test voltage of (100±2) V DC between the copper plate and the steel balls for 1 min and calculate the resistance. (The energy dissipation in the sole shall not be over 3W. whenever necessary, reduce the voltage in order to respect the 3W limit and record the voltage value in the test report.)
