Temple Abrasion Test Machine for Nickel Release
Nickel Release Wear Simulation Tester is used to simulate the repeated abrasion of nickel-coated spectacle frame by a specified fricton medium over a specified period of time for subsequent nickel release determination. It is an indispensable device used prior to the detection of nickel release from coated metal and combination spectacle frames. This device can also accept other samples such as watch bands, necklaces, bracelets, etc. by changing different fixture assemblies.
Our nickel release abrasion simulation tester consists of a tumbling barrel, retaining assembly and rotating system, control system, etc.
The tumbling barrel has a hexagonal cross-section of 19 cm in diameter. A certain amount of wear medium composed of abrasive paste and wear granules mixed in the prescribed proportion is required to be filled in the tumbling barrel for the test. The drum is able to rotate alternately forward and backward around its axis under control. With the help of the rotating and control systems, you can preset the rotation direction, speed and duration before the test.
The retaining assembly features a threaded rod carrying three hexagonal metal plates. The plates can be moved horizontally when needed to accept different sample sizes. There are holes in the plates allowing the test pieces to be mounted and fixed so as to prevent test pieces from contacting with each other during tumbling or colliding with the barrel walls or other parts.
It is easy for you to operate this machine. Digital timers are available for precision timing in seconds or hours to meet different requirements. You can preset the run time for each direction of rotation of the drum. The test speed is displayed on the digital screen and you are allowed to adjust the rotation speed while the machine is running. The machine will stop automatically once the set time has reached.

A test piece is fixed in the clamping device inside the hexagonal barrel horizontally. A certain amount of wear medium composed of abrasive paste and wear granules mixed in the prescribed proportion is filled in the tumbling barrel for the test. The test piece is subjected to continuous friction from the abrasive with the barrel rotates forwards and backwards within a specified time.
- Made of robust steel and aluminium alloy.
- Easy to mount and remove the samples.
- Configured with a bidirectional rotation system of the roller.
- Rotation stops upon achievement of the set time.
- Rotation speed is adjustable.
