The IPX3 & IPX4 Hand-held Spray Nozzle is designed for the manual assessment of protection against spraying and splashing water. Unlike conventional automated IPX3/4 testing systems that utilize oscillating tubes, this handheld nozzle is specifically engineered for testing large or irregularly shaped objects, such as industrial lamps, electrical cabinets, automotive parts, and complex components. By utilizing these nozzles, engineers can accurately verify whether a product meets IEC ingress protection standards, facilitating design improvements and rigorous quality assurance.
IEC 60529 Compliant Construction
Constructed from durable brass, the spray nozzle features a specialized head with 121 precision-drilled holes, each 0.5 mm in diameter. The layout is meticulously arranged to ensure uniform water distribution: a central hole is surrounded by two inner circles (12 holes each at a 30° pitch) and four outer circles (24 holes each at a 15° pitch). The standard model includes a precision pressure gauge and a manual ball valve to accurately regulate water pressure. For enhanced monitoring, an optional electronic flow meter can be integrated to track real-time flow rates.

Seamless Switching Between IPX3 and IPX4 ratings
Operation is streamlined for both IPX3 and IPX4 protocols. For IPX3 testing, a movable shield is positioned via a counterbalance to block a 30-degree arc of the nozzle head. For IPX4 testing, the shield is retracted, allowing the enclosure to be sprayed from all 121 holes to simulate splashing from every direction. The nozzle supports an adjustable pressure range of 50 kPa to 150 kPa to maintain a constant flow rate throughout the procedure, with the total test duration determined by the surface area of the sample.
